Alexandra is a beautiful township with a selection of great local cafes and restaurants. Surrounded by towering mountains with beautiful walks weaving the town and waterways.

One of the best ways to enjoy Alexandra is staying a couple of nights and just exploring with friends or family. Also basing yourself out of Alexandra you are a short drive away from exploring the neighboring larger towns of Clyde, Cromwell, Wanaka and Queenstown and return back to the peace of our town.

The town is famous for it’s stunning orchards and being a superb winemaking region. Gold miners' paths in the hills can be admired from a bike or on foot. At the museum you can discover the history of the gold mining days of the town and  the Pinot Noir vineyards. You can find local apricots, cherries, peaches, and apples in summer and autumn. In winter, the local ice rink and neighboring ski fields provide great fun for all the family.

There a plenty of options for bike hire in Alexandra and in the neighboring town Clyde. Cycling is a great way to explore Alexandra and the other local towns there is a beautiful track connecting the township of Alexandra and Clyde. A brand new cycle trail connecting Clyde and Cromwell, as well as the oldest cycle track in New Zealand the Otago Rail Trail. All can be reached from the Alexandra Motel.

Yes, often guests choose to start their rail trail ride from Alexandra. Our motel is located a short two minute cycle off the main track. Alexandra is the second town along the rail trail. There are locally based companies who offer bike hire for your family. We can put you in touch with these companies who offer hire, transfers and luggage transfer services. Yes, we can store your bike locked in our garage. Please be sure to mention that you would like your bike stored when booking as space is limited.

All of our rooms come with fully equipped kitchenets. You have a stove, fridge and microwave, as well as a full selection of pots, pans, and utensils. We recommend you take full advantage of the excellent local eateries. However should you want to cook for yourself you have everything you need.

Continental and Cooked breakfast are available see our menu here. Orders must be placed by 8pm the night before, your breakfast will be served in your room. We serve either a continental or cooked breakfast.
